Well.... The XS drive (40 GB) has a price of 150 GB Pounds, The
Pound is currently 2.3 times the value of the Canuck buck.

No retail vendor in Vancouver could come up with a reasonable
priced solution. Having just purchased a DS body, 16-45, A70
-210, A50 1,7, 1.25 GHZ eMac with superdrive , Epson 4870
scanner, oh and rebuilt the 3.0 liter motor in my Porsche 944S2 all
since July; I am looking for buget priced storage!

A bunch of SD cards would be nice, but at $135 plus tax each,
where does it stop?

This is not the solution for every one, but It is realy cheap and the
harddrive can be swopped out in about 10 minutes ( now I know
how to format it). As HDD size increases you just install a bigger
drive to handle those 20Meg files from the Pentax digital body that
will surely show up in the next few years.

When I travel I usually take my Mamiya 7 with the 43, I won't
change that practice. The digital will allow me to shoot tons more
photos, provided I am anywhere near civilization (I suppose that
includes Regina and Los Angeles). I can easily find an Internet cafe
to burn a cd or DVD.

There is a risk the hard drive and enclosure could quit, but it is a
chance I am willing to take. Assuming I take my own advice, and
get my images onto alternate storage I believe I.m minimizing that
risk!

I don't mind spending real money for good stuff, but the computer
industry (along with it's cousin the electronics industry) has taken
a lot of my money in the past 15 years. You have to economize
somewhere!

I will update on how the Bytecc enclosure works over the next week
does it double copy etc. I have done a trial download and it was
flawless pulling 3.5 meg jpegs from a card reader. So it doesn't
consume all the batteries in the universe. The batteries are AA.

Send comments and questions. When I have the answers I will
update you all.

Best Regards

ps: a single Carillo con rod and matching Mahle Motorsport piston
costs the same as a DS body. I bought four.
