Hello Shel, I'm not much into zooms either and usually sell or don't use them except in special circumstances. However, after trying the DA 16-45/4 I was quite impressed with it's optical qualities. It has a great manual focus feel (only way I use it) and is a constant F4 throughout the range. Finding another few primes in that focal range and optical quality is difficult and very pricey. My two biggest reasons for considering were that I was not having good luck shooting larger groups with the FA *24/2 (large prints and small details) and I wanted something quite wide for the *istD - you have to get below 18mm to really start getting wide on that crop factor.
