In Japan, the street price is expected as follows;

US$ stands at JPY105, which makes US$952, US$1,142, and
US$1,361 respectively.
FYI, I bought my *ist-DS with DA 18mm-55mmF3.5-5.6AL for
JPY110K, which makes US$1,047. Some shop sells DS lens
kit for JPY93K, which is US$887.
Still, DS seems competitive as to its price.
