In the film "A Fish Called Wanda" (which you should see if you haven't) there are two dog funerals. The dogs are accidentally killed by one of the protagonists. The background music for both occasions is a funereal dirge. I had to get a vcr tape and listen to this part four or five times before I could make out that the words are the following:

"Miserere dominus. Canis mortus est."

It has been 40 years since I studied Latin so I cannot vouch that these word endings are correct.

Translation: Forgive us, lord. The dog is dead.

Those of you who have seen the film had to buy Pentax gear, participate in this list, and wait all these years to have someone explain this part of it. And without Cotty's digital vigilance, you still would not know.
