Herb, I hope you are right. If that is its price point I will probably buy it. If it is priced about $200 or so, designed to compete with the Sigma 55-200, I will pass on it.

What if it is priced in between -- $300 or so? Then I don't know what I'll do. Ah, heck, I'll probably buy it and immediately test it against my SMC F 70-210.

But I suspect that some development in manufacturing has made ED elements less expensive. They now seem to be more common. Or perhaps shifting manufacturing to Vietnam cuts labor costs enough that ED elements can now be included without making the lens unaffordable.
