Yes, please. I see you read it thorughly some years ago, Subject: Re: New 67 and new generation of K-mount? Date: Tue, 04 Feb 2003 11:37:15 +0100 That time KAF3 was based on the power zoom for power!? K-AF3 US patent applications are no. 20020114623, 20020114625 and 20020118963 I still wonder what KAF3 is. I read through the archives, finding only speculations: - the claim (early 2003), that the aperture ring will never be removed from newer lenses - KAF3 is, what is used on the FA-J lenses: KAF3 is KAF2 without PowerZoom and without mechanical aperture coupling So one of the questions is whether the current K is still 'crippled KAF2' or whether it's already KAF3. I did not read the KAF3 patents myself (three from 2001?). I doubt that they would provide real information how the mount would look like. But there should not be only less than KAF2, but somehow more. This may be hidden within the digital contact, being information only. But maybe some further contacts or mount extension will be required which would proof that current lenses and bodies are not yet KAF3. > > Is there any real chance to use IS lenses for the latest *ist D's? > > I seriously doubt it, as there is only one contact suitable for digital data > transmission (that could be actually OK, serial transmission today can be > very fast) but no power contacts of any kind... I feel the same - but maybe someone knows better. Thanks, Martin
