I didn't see this come through so sending again. >On Dec 13, 2004, at 7:43 AM, Juan Buhler wrote: > >> Is it possible to use unmounted film with a slide duplicator? >> >> and, how easy is it to control the magnification? >> >> It would be interesting to use the istD to quickly "scan" B&W film. >> Has anyone tried such thing?
I have just been "scanning" some old slides for my brother, also using a Nikon 990 and a Pentax slide copier. I still have a dozen to crop and clean up. Digital spotting is sure easier than doing it with a brush but still a pain with about 50 dusty old slides that will not brush/blow clean. Here is one of the better ones originally taken with his K1000 and cleaned up in PhotoShop. http://members.shaw.ca/hargravep/DSCN2826s.jpg With the right lens the ist D should be able do twice as good a job. I'm hoping to find an inexpensive screw mount macro to use with my extension tubes. The basic setup is shown toward the bottom of this page. http://members.shaw.ca/hargravep/oly.htm I have changed the light source since then. The slide copier was sold with the "Pentax Bellows II" which I don't have. It will also handle negative strips. Powell
