I'm a bit surprised that your browser doesn't have an option for automatic image resizing? Both my new browsers do, only my 2001 vintage Netscape can't. The only time it doesn't work is when the images are generated/posted to the browser using flash or java based applications. Had a look at photo.net in the last week, they've screwed up what was a usable system (image sizing wise) trying to make it more glam.
