I like that. Avoid the double digit Pentax models! Never thought of the extra digit before Greywolf disgorged his message.

The double digit cameras mz-30, mz50, etc. seem to be pure snapshot cameras and lack features desirable to the more advanced photographer.
The mz-5 was replace with the mz-5n just a couple of minor changes, I understand. The have the classical interface (shutter speed knob, f-stops on the lene) and is very easy to use if you are used to the older manual cameras. they are the only AF cameras I have come across that you do not need the manual to figure out how to use. The mz-3 is an advance version of the 5 with a higher shutter speed.
The mz-7 is about the same specs as the mz-5 cameras, but with modern digital type controls.
mz-6 (zx-L) are a basically a newer version of the 7 with better AF.
*ist is the latest generation film camera from Pentax. Lacking some backward compatibility, but with very advanced features (seems to be a double digit type camera).
mz-S is the flag ship camera. Fits in the same catagory as the Canon EOS-3 and Nikon F100, but is enough different that you will love it or hate it.
*istD is the digital SLR. By the name you would think it is based on the *ist but it is not, though it shares some technology.
