Tamron SP 180mm f:2.5 LD [IF] is a beauty. Two low dispersion elements and focuses to 1,2 meters with a very short focus throw. Only thing bothering me with it is that is has some pincushion distortion. Actually more than the Tamron 80-200 2.8 SP LD at *any* focal length! The "Pentax Fan" has it as the only third party telephoto prime lens in this list (follow link to pictures of it): http://www.pentax-fan.jp/lens35.asp?fl=T&ty=K And a comparison between the Tamron, a 180mm Nikkor and a 70-200 f:2.8 Sigma (in japanese): http://www.akina.ne.jp/~dvkoji/page8/01003photo.html Sigma made a huge 180mm f:2.8 AF macro lens which went to 1:2. The current model is the AF 180mm f:3.5 on which I guess is very highly regarded (and goes to 1:1). -Matti
