Welcome to the world of jpeg. Compression varies depending upon the picture. Large monotone areas compress more than areas with a lot of small detail. If you compare the photos to their compressed sizes you will see what I mean.

The Computer shows the files to vary in size by as much as one MB from about
1.9 - 3.02.
