   Theoretically, the sensor indeed needs to be at least twice the
   largest wavelength it's supposed to capture. However, two more
   factors favour a sensor sized to at least an order of magnitude
   above the wavelength:
     - diffraction in the optical path;
     - light propagation under the sensor surface (we assume
       the sensor is not under its own lens - this would further
       increase its minimum size).
