Well *I* never thought that was what the J lenses were about :-) but
your point is well taken.

Cool. Hope your information is correct. Then again, my sources tell me
the J lenses have nothing to do with the *ist or *istD, but are mainly
meant for cheap package kits with the MZ-60. 

Throwing away compatibility to a really huge extent, like building
small-image-circle lenses for the DSLR, would *really* go against Pentax
history. I'm feeling more confident they won't do something that dumb.
