I tried to point this out a long time ago but no one seemed to care. The ZX
series of cameras seem to have quieter shutter/mirror/winders than any of the
manual mechanical camera shutter/mirror combinations. I happen to like the old
metal bodied cameras better but at least I'm honest with myself about their shutter
noise. On the other hand most places I'm taking photos I don't need that
much stealth to keep from being noticed. I find the current crop of robo-cameras
and P&S's very helpful in that regard, if a flash doesn't go off no one thinks the
picture will come out.

Is there a lot of sample variation in this? I find my MX is quieter than the LX
but not MUCH quieter.
On the other hand, the ZX-5n is extremely quiet; something I seldom see
mentioned around
here.
