> The FLAGSHIP, obviously :o)

But doesn't every camera line have to have a flagship?

Maxxum 9
Konica Hexar RF
Nikon F5 / D1x
Canon EOS-1v / 1Ds
Contax RTSIII / Digital N1 (which is however bombed and sunken and slowly
leaking oil into waters of the lagoon)
Leica M7 / R9 (the latter I'm sure plentifully backlogged)
Olympus (none at present)

Pentax MZ-S.

So is the MZ-S a creditable flagship?

Objective strikes against it: low-mag, low-coverage viewfinder, like looking
down a tunnel, makes a 50mm lens seem like a short tele. Then again, a lot
of people don't seem to mind it, or have gotten used to it, and maybe a
better/bigger finder would have a) made the camera bigger and b) added $200
to its cost. Low motor-drive speed.

Subjective strikes against it (i.e., my taste only): not quiet.

Otherwise, seems like a creditable flagship to me. Slick-looking, solid,
distinctive, attractive, very ergonomic (deceptively so in fact), nice size
and weight, lots of features and control flexibility. I really like the Av-M
switchover, the AEL on-off, the d.o.f. preview.

I mean, what else do we want?
