   This is what a respected photographer I know of does. It scans
   Reala (in 35 mm) at 4800 dpi and processes the output to level the
   grain (of course the algorithms in the PS plugin are more
   sophisticated and computing intensive than the ones used in the
   camera firmware). The final result are faultless (digitally ;o))
   28 MPixel images.
   His point of view? The digital is still in the infancy...
