Hi Sylwester, on 27 Jan 03 you wrote in pentax.list:

From Hnecke' MZ-5n/MZ-3 book (page 42): "... Beside the different valuation of the upper and lower regions of a motiv, the multisegment metering considers the shadows in a motive more than the lighter regions. This reaction on shadows reaches its maximum in case of back-lighting, where only the center will be measured. The multisegment metering includes the object distance, measured by the AF- system of the MZ-5n/MZ-3, in this compensation of the darker motiv in the center and the lighter background. ..." And Horst Gottfried writes in his MZ-5n/MZ-3 "Fotoguide" (page 37): "... If the multisegment metering recognizes a dark area in the center of the picture, then this is a verl reliable sign of a back-lighting situation. In this cas the metering system considers the distance information of the AF-system in order to get a compensation as optimal as possible. The nearer the the main motiv the stronger its evaluation in the exposure analysis...." So may we call it 3D metering? ;-) I would say 'yes'. But it seems as if the distance information is not taken into account in every case but especially in back-lighting situations. Does anyone know more detailed technical sources for such information? Cheers, Heiko
