Yep, he knew he had to give up the infinity focus of course. I have no idea
why he bothered taking time to do this but he has to like the FA*85/1.4 so
much to do this :-). But he is saying that it is a reckless experiment....
Pentax screw mount lenses could be fitted to EOS through some kind of
adaptor but not the K-mount because of the aperture lever interfering with
the guts of the EOS (mirror etc). K-mount flange is smaller than EOS mount,
so all you have to do is to clear the aperture pin (spring), but in the
process, it will change the flange back dimension, thus losing the infinity.
It appears that what he did was to use the EOS body cap (!) which was
thinned down as much as possible, and glued (1) it to the K-mount flange
taken from the close-up ring.

He says the focussing distance is between 30cm to 1m, and only good for the
mug shot but not really for the torso shot. Later, he said he trimmed the
thickness of the "converter" by another 3mm which barely enabled the torso
shot.

BTW, the URL quoted was shown in one of the more casual chat lists in Japan
where people were becoming rather sarcastic about the waiting for the new
Pentax digital, and someone threw this in, almost as a black joke. The way
people feel is the same everywhere :-).

Cheers,

Ken
