i don't know what the color fastness of any of the dye sub printers are. i
haven't see any ratings. i don't think you will see any savings in the cost
of the consumables for higher end printers and of the ones i have tried in
the Tektronix line just after they sold the division to Xerox, the printers
were extremely slow Postscript devices. these were designed for proofing
work and the prints were expected to last a few months. the waxy coating
created by the ink is very fragile.
