This is something different. The bug is about GUI not showing exceptions
nicely. Many exceptions are displayed only in the console output.

This pretty much depends on the document. We are marking certain
documents read only because either they contain features that are not
supported by PDFedit (e.g. encrypted documents) or the document itself
is not good for editing (e.g. linearized document).

If you are having the linearized document (which you can see in the
Revision selection tool) then you can delinearize document edit the
delinearized one.
