Hi Sanjeev,
I have last worked with catalog in version 4 of Acrobat. Then, and I believe in 5 too, you had a choice between Acrobat Reader with or without the catalog-search-capability. The latter was a smaller download file)

Adobe's text-only download page, which gives you a choice between basic and full Reader download, is here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/alternate.html

On that page it says:
Below are quick links to the latest versions of Adobe Reader software. These links are followed by a more complete set of links to Adobe Reader in other languages. If you are distributing Adobe Reader 6.0.1, use the full version rather than the basic version. The full version includes accessibility, search, multimedia, and eBook support, as well as Adobe Photoshop Album slide show and electronic card support.
Acrobat Reader ist the free product.
Hope that helps.
:-)
Cheers, Stefan

We want to create CDs with PDF files in French which could be searched by boolean conditions, Stemming and Thesaurus.
I suppose that we have to use Acrobat Catalog ( which comes with full version of Acrobat) to create Index. My question is that once an indexed PDF file is created, can we search it by using Acrobat Reader OR we have to use some Searching Tool. Also would each user of CD require full Acrobat Reader or the free Reader will do? What about the Licensing issue?
