I run Acrobat 5 and Reader 5 and Reader 6 on my machine with no stability problems (Win2000).  The way I "choose" what app to use to view my PDFs is (unfortunately) to have the selected reader open and use it's File -> Open to open the PDF.  I've been trying to figure out a way to have PDFs open through Reader 6 when they come through the web browser while keeping Acrobat 5 as the default for opening local PDFs but I have not found a solution yet.
 
Adobe does not support running multiple versions on one machine.  I've had some of their people tell me it won't work but that's not true.  Max Wyss called my PC a "toxic environment" so yours (running three versions of Acrobat full) would be downright nuclear!  I haven't tried to run different versions of full Acrobat, so I don't know if that will work or not.
 
One trick I've found useful is opening multiple Acrobat windows at the same time.  As you've probably realized, you can't open Acrobat 5 when Reader 6 is open and visa-versa.  Well, actually you can.  Open up Reader first and then go to Start -> Run -> and type in "acrobat /n".  This will launch Acrobat while leaving the Reader open.

Hello Expert PDF Users,

I would greatly appreciate help with the following situations:
 
1.  I am currently running Acrobat 5.
I would like to download the free Acrobat 6 Reader to be able to view multi-media presentations.
How can I do it so that I will have a choice of which reader to use, Acrobat 5 or Acrobat 6 when I wish to view a document?

2.  There are some features of Acrobat 4 that I prefer over Acrobat 5. How can I re-install Acrobat 4 so that I can have both versions of the program running at the same time?

3.  I am thinking of possibly upgrading to Acrobat 6, but would like to be able to keep Acrobat 4 and Acrobat 5 running at the same time, in case I run into problems with the new software (so that I can still be productive while I am going through the learning curve...)  What do I need to do to make this possible?
