Hi, Jim

I'm curious - how time intensive is it to use Acrobat 6 as the artwork
software for your forms? I've used apps like Form Flow and that make it
pretty easy to draw boxes, lines, etc. I haven't used Acrobat 6 yet but
I know that Acrobat 5 doesn't seem to let me "add" text that isn't there
- just modify existing static text.

I'm looking into artwork solutions for our forms department and, to be
honest, never even considered "drawing" with Acrobat. Do you have
experience with this?

Mark

Hey, y'all,
How about Acrobat 6 Professional for a forms design tool? Most forms
consist of a letterhead or logo at the top (make a button, import the
icon; if you do it a lot, make a stamp out of the logo). Field entry
prompts (use the touch-up text tool). Data fields (no-brainer). Maybe
some drop-downs (nother no-brainer) or pick lists (also part of Acro6).
Fields that display results. Maybe a signature. And a warning that
you'll be fired, prosecuted, or forfeit stuff if you lie.

Acro 6 Pro has some hidden "features" designed to test your knowledge
of Anglo-Saxon english language derivatives, but overall it works well
for all but the most complex forms. There's a grid; line drawing tools;
touch-up text tool -- just about all you'll need for anything but
complex docs. To get a blank PDF page to work on, just open a blank doc
in your word processor, save it, and make a PDF out of it; open that
with Acro6 and do your thing. You can also create a new blank doc from
the JS console.

If you have a form that requires extreme complexity, do it in any
vector drawing program, save it as a .JPG or PNG, and open it in
Acrobat. Place the form fields, write the JavaScripts, and you're
finished. If you use Illustrator, it works nicely with Acro6, and you
can jump back and forth between the two.
