The only thing I could find was under General Preferences/Options "Allow File Open Actions and Launching File Attachments"(5.05) which is checked already. In Acrobat 5, "Open File" actions will respect the user's preference for whether to open in the same window or a new one. In Acrobat 6, you (the PDF author) can choose to open in same, open in new, or respect user's preference.
