I'm looking into the Adobe developer kit/program and have a few
questions. I foresee purchasing this kit if it meets our business
needs.

You don't really purchase the SDK, you join the Solutions Network and that gets you access to the full SDK - among many other benefits...

We currently are using Adobe to disperse a majority of our information.
We now need the ability to modify the menu selection within Adobe.

OK.

For Full Acrobat or only for Reader?

We need to create an instance of the 'Find Next' dialog box which would
stay on the user's screen, enabling them to find the next occurrence of
a word without having to go to the file menu each time.

You could certainly do that from a plugin. Also, Acrobat 6 has a new Find dialog that would help here...

We also need the ability to add in a plug-in that is compatible with
both PC's and MAC's (so we are able to use this executable over and over
by simply modifying the PDF file name).

You can't have a single plugin that works on both platforms - but you certainly can build one plugin for each platform from the same source code.

Are we able to modify the code within the Adobe Kit? Does the Adobe Kit offer
support and/or code samples that would assist us with these particular
matters?

Yes, the SDK available to ASN members includes lots of sample code. I don't believe that any of the samples would be exactly what you need, but would get you started.

Another option would be to hire trainers to come and help you get started with the SDK - or have a consultant do the development for you...
