Chuck to All ... Interesting; I was just reading Maximum PC today and it has
anrticle mentioning HP in this vein. Page 20 of the December issue has two
columns about a class action settlement against motherboard manufacturer
MSI. Bad capacitors strike again! Anyway, the article mentions this:
{Philadelphia attorney Johnathan Shub, who negotiated the settlement with
MSI, told the Dog, "We have no indication as yet how widespread the problem
is." Shub said he is also negotiating litigation against Soyo, Jetway, and
Hewlett-Packard over the bad caps. He welcomes information from consumers
regarding their bad capacitor problems at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Clint says ... FYI, HP doesn't make motherboards. The boards in their PC's
are made by motherboard manufacturers. :-) --- Clint
Chuck says ... <snip> Its somewhat less interesting that you should lessen
my reply, even though its the only reply with a verifiable source mentioned.
(Peter's reply is good too). --- Clint
Clint says ... Huh???? Defensive aren't we. No attempt was made, or is one
ever made, to "lessen a reply". I was simply pointing out that HP (along
with other computer manufacturers) don't make their own mobo's. I don't even
know what any suit is about. If it is about mobo's, or bad caps therein, I
find it strange that any suit would be against the PC makers and not instead
against those that manufacture the mobo's (or bad caps). --- Clint
Harold says ... Shame on you (I'm tapping my index fingers against each
other and pointing them at you). Stop this fighting. You can both go to your
rooms with no supper. This is what I mean, we get too serious about techie
matters that in the long run don't mean anything. I was only a bit curious
about the email sent to me; in no way am I going to sue anyone; it's not
worth it. I had the HP for 5 years and am delighted that I got the use I did
get out of it. Any problems I attribute to Win98 which is no way as stable
as this current Compaq-HP I have now with WinXP. So let's put it all aside
now. All right, Clint and Chuck; you can come down for supper; it's getting
cold --- Harold
