Thanks, Peter, that worked; now the icon is yellow, black, green, and red; it was probably still doing the job without color. I always unchecked the email scanner box to avoid bothering people with the "certification" and then the icon color disappeared. Now I just unchecked the "certification" box; takes big brains to do that :)

Harold, if you double click the icon in the tray then the control center will open up with all the components with blue titles, if any are red then click on the red item and check it's properties. Usually the vi***s database needs to be updated. --- Peter Kaulback

I am using AVG Anti-Vir*s (free edition), and I assume it is working properly. The Control Center sits in my System Tray and usually after installing it, it looks like a square divided into quarters and in bright colors. What often happens is after a while, the colors disappear and it is just a square divided into quarters but just gray and black. It opens to the regular Control Center and appears to look normal.

Question . What causes the colors in the System Tray icon to disappear and should I be concerned with it? . Harold
