They show up the same way they show up on **your** screen after you get the
email from the list. Ben summed it up perfectly in detail in his post about
the "blue line" and that's exactly what I was referring to in my last post.
I don't see how you can miss this......you don't look at your own posts at
the list? At least below, you left my name in this time below my text, so
others know which text was mine and which is yours.

You should not be sending email ANYWHERE in HTML format due to its security
problems, and the AOL company morons set all email to HTML by default. AOL
is further contributing to the email worm & virus problem by doing this. AOL
is by far the worse email program in the history of the net. AOL thinks
AOL'ers ONLY send email to OTHER AOL'ers! You'd be much better off using OE
or Eudora, anything but AOL email....and the whole internet would thank you.

No, I'm NOT the "only one" having the problem distinguishing your
posts......I'm about the only one that NEEDS to distinguish since I'm about
the only one that's been REPLYING to them (except for Hugh) trying to help
you! I've replied to every single one of your original posts offering help.
And, you should "help others to help you" if you want help. I respond to
hundreds of emails each day, 95% of them being business and customers, so
when I reply to a post at this list in efforts to help, I should not have to
"decipher" the thread and spend even more time at it that I do not have.

A word on Ben: I've known him for years and he IS a good guy. You'd really
like him if you knew him, and he "knows his stuff". I've had a few posts
over the years go to the list that I meant to go privately. That can happen
when you forget to remove the PCworks address and add the private
address(es).

Ok, on your camera--I think you mean serial and USB, I've never seen nor
heard of a parallel port connection for a digicam! At any rate, you should
not be using both, it's not necessary. Use the USB IF it's USB 2.0, and IF
you PC has a USB 2.0 port since it will be faster. It could be you require
the digicam software for this to work. ME is different in this area than XP,
which does not require software. Winamp is a sort of "quasi malware" so it's
no surprise it wants to connect to the net, that's why you need a firewall to
block it. On the software; sometimes it MUST be installed BEFORE you EVER
hook up the camera, and sometimes the camera must be hooked up first. You
need to check your manual on the proper sequence. Also be sure your USB and
serial ports work. Hook something else up them. Sometimes not all, or maybe
NONE of the USB ports are active in the BIOS, same with the serial ports.
You have to hook another USB device up to the port and if it works, then you
know it's working. Also check the Device Manager to be sure the 'USB root
hub' and 'Universal Serial Bus' entries are there with no yellow marks.

Clint,

I have no idea how these things show up on your screen, but when they
leave mine, the stuff that's copied from your e-mail has a blue line down the
right side of the letter and is not (usually) indented. The stuff that I
write
has no blue line next to it and IS indented.
This seems to work for nearly everybody else because, so far, you're the
only one that has trouble reading my stuff. I tried to send my writing to a
friend the other day with what I wrote in blue and what she wrote in the
original orange that she used and she told me last night that she couldn't
make out
what I wrote, but when I just leave my typing in black, she has no problem
with it at all.

Now, the problem is, I have the camera plugged into both ports: parallel
AND usb, which I had to do before I erased the hard drive two weeks ago. The
puter is now telling me that I either don't have the camera plugged into the
usb port, or I don't have it turned on. I have BOTH ports plugged in AND the
camera is on. So, for some reason the puter's not able to connect with the
camera, and, yes, I have tried just one port at a time and that doesn't work
either. That's why I resorted to using both the first time I had the program
installed 4 years ago.
I have a feeling that something, in some aspects of the puter, have
changed for the better since I last wrote zeros two weeks ago. All of a
sudden I
can get on line without having to do "the dance", something I HAD to do at
least 99.99% of time ever since I first tried to get on line 4 years ago.
Maybe
that has something to do with my not being able to get my pics. I just
noticed
last night that everytime I put in a cd it automatically tries to get
online!! Why, I don't know, unless Winamp has some faction in it where it
gets on
line just to get the names of the tracks of the cds. I know it CAN do that,
but
it's never before forced me to get on line everytime I put in a cd. And,
since most of my cd's are recorded by me, there's no way it can tell me what
the
songs are. I suppose there's something in Winamp that I have to turn off
now,
but I never had to before this. I've been using it for 4 years now and never
had it try to get me online before.

                            Dale
