ISP's will NEVER admit to anything that is screwed up. POP3 is the way you
receive email and is your ISP's doing. To be sure, temp. disable your
firewall, and any AV software that might be doing POP3 scanning. Sometimes
these two things can slow down your incoming mail. If you still have the
problem, it's your ISP.

Hi All.

I'm so fed up.. I need HELP.. LOL.

I have a 5 year old computer.(Gateway).. I use Windows 98.. .I have
Norton System Works 2003 installed. and thats working fine. I use
Netscape 7.0 for my browser, as well as for my mail. and Earthink
5.0..(they're sending me the updated Earthlink, as a "possible way to
fix this".

I dont' download alot of things.. Only Adobe, and Adaware.. Thats about
all.. This is my personal computer, for email. and browsing only.

I had a problem with connecting..(recently).. so the phone company -
fixed the "line" and I'm connecting faster.. Using regular dial-up.. but
it's faster..

BUT, before this happened.. and whats still happening is this.

I get these error messages..

"Failed to connect to POP 3 Server"

Connection timed out.. when connecting to....

The operation failed. when attempting to connect to Start Earthlink.net

Okay. so these are the 3 error messages I get VERY often.. I called
Earthlink tech support last nite, cause I wasn't able to send ANY
emails.. They have no clue. what is happening.. So what I did.. was do a
Go Back. and I got it to work..(did a Go Back.. for about 4 hours) and
everything is working.. but I still get those same error
messages..(actually, the one I just got.. was "connection timed out"..
Earthlink, tech support says.. this is normal.. and happens all the
time.. Well, it just started about a month ago.

They said, just reboot.. or hit refresh.. or click off the connection,
and re-connect..

Any ideas why this is happening,, and why all of a sudden.

Also, does anybody recommend upgrading Netscape.. to the next one..(I
think there is one.. above this)???

Thanks for your help.

Helene
