Problem solved ... Seems the problem (2001 must have had a corrupted file) ,but the problem with the update to 2003a was that it persisted with the icq opening ,immediately after the reinstall ... when I opened icq anew (from scratch), the problem ,disappeared. All is well now in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY.
Problem had to do with the status mode. For some reason, my visible status (green daisy) held for about 20 seconds and then wemt to an invisible status (the big eye) ... thanks for the individual responses; seems more people are using icq than I ever thought. http://www.geocities.com/buddychai/Brighton1.html ...
