Windows98 on a HP computer and HP keyboard ... Some of my fun with the
computer is tinkering with the deletion button and tweaking the
Registry, so problems are always bound to come up. Fortunately this is
not a serious one.

Problem is with the Keyboard Manager (found in Program Files >
Netropa). It is no longer functioning. The files in the Netropa folder
control the workings of the shortcut buttons on the keyboard. Not all
the buttons on the keyboard are affected; just the ones listed on the
Keyboard Manager window.

Symptoms first I check Enable multimedia buttons and onscreen
display Then I get an Error message saying: No valid Keymaps
found followed by three successive Mmkey Illegal operation warnings.

Steps Taken I did a google search on Keymaps and found at
http://www.gnu.org/manual/elisp-manual-21-2.8/html_node/elisp_323.html
that Keymaps are:

The bindings between input events and commands are recorded in data
structures called keymaps. Each binding in a keymap associates (or
binds) an individual event type either to another keymap or to a
command. When an event type is bound to a keymap, that keymap is used to
look up the next input event; this continues until a command is found.
The whole process is called key lookup.

Question does anyone know what that means?
http://www.gnu.org/manual/elisp-manual-21-2.8/html_node/elisp_326.html#SEC326
is about creating Keymaps but, I mean, really (smile).

So what are Keymaps, where can they be obtained (or how made), and where
might they go (or typed in)? It would be nice not to get those
above-mentioned symptoms ... Harold B (in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY)
