I took receipt of this patch as an opportunity to do a bit of
refactoring inside config/init/hints/darwin.pm and its associated test file.
I applied the revised patch in 3d77b04. This is the sort of patch where
the best way to test it is to apply it and see if we get complaints from
Darwin users. Fortunately, we're at a point in the monthly release
cycle where we can afford to do so.
