I can add that I'm on gcc-6.4.0 now (gentoo/~amd64), and that some time 
ago I put the -D_GLIBCXX_USE_CXX11_ABI=0 in my pan-specific ebuild 
settings file, and forgot about it until now.

So it could be a combination of one or both of that -D_ flag in CXXFLAGS, 
and/or building pan without gnome-keyring support, both mentioned in the 
bug.
