And what's even worse, pan cheerfully continues to download more files,
even though it's continuously getting "filesystem full" errors upon
saving them. At least that's what happened to me a few months ago.
I don't know what version I was running back then but probably
something like 1.33/1.34 or whatever was packaged with OpenSuSE 12.1...
Apologies if it has been fixed in more recent versions.

Perhaps pan could check for free space every time it starts to download
another file from the download queue? It should have a pretty good idea
about the expected file size, it needs the info for the "Bytes" column
in the article overview anyway.
