Gaah!  Upon rereading, "it's" is ambiguous.  It refers to the ebuild, NOT 
the pan make system.  "... so /the/ /ebuild/ (IOW gentoo) is hard-coding 
the glib2 dep...".

And gentoo (in the ebuild) also hard-codes the gtk2 dep, but that's a 
different line, and I /think/ they're related but am not /sure/ of that.

Either way, tho, glib-2.28 should be fine, which is the main point I was 
making.
