There really is a lot of new code in the git version, as you'll probably notice with the extended functionality right away, and a lot of opportunistic bug fixes for stuff that hadn't been reported yet. But it's hit or miss whether your bug was one of them, as I hadn't seen it reported. Heinrich might be able to say, but it's easier just to try it and see, particularly since if it's fixed later, you'd want to try the git version to test the fix.
