The last two code blocks should be replaced with:

$ sudo apt-get purge pan
$ sudo make install


Is there a way to build pan2 on Kubuntu without installing gnome-common?
Download a tarball from pan.rebelbase.com. The gnome-common package is only
needed when building Pan sources from git.
