Run this command as root:
/sbin/fdisk -l
(That's a lower case L, not a 1.)
That just tells me that the partition is Type 83 (Linux).
"parted -l" does tell me that it's ext3 -- but I'm not sure if parted
is on all Linux distributions. I was trying to find a more generic
command. (But I couldn't remember "parted" either, earlier today.)

Silly me! Sorry! Look in /etc/fstab and see how it's mounted.
