I was intrigued with comment #4. It took me a while to track down
where GLIB_MAJOR_VERSION, GLIB_MINOR_VERSION and GLIB_MICRO_VERSION
are set (answer: /usr/lib/glib-2.0/include/glibconfig.h). I think that
gives the definitive answer to the question "What glib version do I
have?". Yes, it really is 2.16.3.
Thanks for your help. I'll have to take some time studying your
response to my 2nd question.
