In the sources, there's a couple MS specific files, README.windows.in (which appears to be pulled in by one of the make files, and probably spit out during the run), and README.mingw, somewhat more detailed compiling instructions, referred to in the first file. I had seen those but never read them, so didn't know what they contained. He asked me to take a look around and see if there was anything that might stimulate me to add something, and it has been on my todo list, but it hasn't gotten done, unfortunately.
