While HTML is fine on the web in a browser, it's a security nightmare abused by malware authors and spammers worldwide in news and mail. Even if you don't agree with that as you obviously don't if you are posting the junk, the least you can do is honor it on the pan lists. As Peter mentioned, scoring has superseded the filters, as it's generally more flexible anyway. Rules per se are gone. Charles has indicated he's planning on instituting something a bit simpler to work with for handling auto-delete on killed posts, auto-mark-read on negative scored posts, and auto-download on watched posts, and there's already a config option for expiring stuff after a period.
