I haven't done binaries in awhile, so haven't seen whether queued for download shows, but the action column regularly shows the "stacked disks" icon indicating the message is cached after download, so it's certainly not always blank. If you really mean /nothing/ appears there, perhaps it's a gtk version thing? I'm running 2.8.20 here, on Gentoo. (2.10.0 and 2.10.1 ebuilds are available but remain masked to allow ~arch (unstable) to properly test 2.8.20 before it goes stable, according to the package.mask notation.
