hi,

is it reasonable to stonith a host which is/was currently in standby
mode?

depends what it did - but yes, it could happen

i today tried to upgrade from pacemaker 1.0.0 to 1.0.1:

wc01: v1.0.0
wc02: v1.0.0, dc
wc01: put into standby
wc01: upgrade to v1.0.1 & restart heartbeat a couple of times
note: maybe heartbeat kind of hung during this process!

i then saw wc02 (dc) shoot wc01.

i do not think that it is appropriate to shoot a node which is/was
last seen in standby mode. or maybe i am misinterpreting the intention
of crm_standby?

probably :-)
it just means "can't run resources"

but if any resource there failed to stop... it should definitely be shot.
