I have a stupid question for this again. If I am not completely wrong the
client connects to through webdav. Webdav shows all configured folders and
subfolder and creates the stream.
Wouldn't it be possible with a single line in php source code to say the
webdav, that it should show all folders, but not folders with the name
"MyPublicStorage"? All my problems would be immediately solved...

It will probably be some time still, I can’t give an estimate anyway since I
don’t work on the code. Klaas, Danimo, you can comment if you want.

For now we are more focused on improving the core functionality and
streamlining everything. That has priority over new features, but be sure it’s
on the roadmap.

This would perfectly solve our issues.
When is this feature ready to use? :)

One future plan for the sync client is the ability to select which folders
should be synced from the server to the computer. That way you could deselect
your »Pictures« or »Videos« folder when setting it up on your netbook, for
instance.

Does that solve your problem?

Yes, that would be another feature request. Why not having a flag in the
database ‘clientsync: yes/no’
The user could decide for each folder/file, if it should be synced or not.

The symlinks are nice and I already thought about it, but I don’t like to
improve the system with command line tasks. It is much better to use the
backend to set all properties.

I will take a look into application development and see if I can create a
symlink for all known users and exclude it from clientsync, because we hardly
need it and in my opinion it is worth for all to have it.

Best regards
Gunnar

interesting idea, but following your vision, should the public folder be
visible in the Files section ?
Because, if yes, how can you deny the client from auto-syncing that folder too ?

I think you can partially have a public folder shared by users by using
symlinks, but I cannot test that.

Hi list

We are looking for a solution to have something like a Public Folder, in which
all registered user can read/write/browse, but that is not automatically
downloaded by the client (yes, we sync / path with client to get the dropbox
experience).

Has anybody of you ever seen something like this in owncloud?

Best regards
Gunnar
