That should really be ok. Although I would advice against using an
administrator account for that use. Creating a really unpriviledged
user for that task would be the best solution. But for initial tests
it is ok.

With jxplorer (http://www.jxplorer.org/) you should be able to
access your AD-LDAP, too if you connect using those credentials.
You might check this, too.

Did you also change the two dropdown selection gadgets below to
"secondary LDAP-directory" ("sekundäres LDAP-Verzeichnis") and
"read existing data of users and groups" ("Vorhandene LDAP-Benutzer-
und Gruppendaten auslesen")?

After that you should be able to get the users and groups in the
manager.
