Hi,

Changes on Robust <-> regions protocols are a bit rare, and when they happen, we try to keep backward compatibility.  But we can't ensure there will be no breaking changes in future. In fact some support for 0.8x regions on 0.9x services, or vice versa will be removed in near future, (possible some was already removed).

So running a 0.9.1.x Snail just for old ODE content on future  robust version, will be a time limited solution.

Removing Old ODE, will, for all purposes, remove support for the old content made for its specific behavior. Most can be fixed, for example correcting vehicle parameters that it did ignore, and give odd results on engines that support them, etc... but this basically making new content.

And as i said that old content may also have issues with current script code.

The  possible removal of old ODE will only happen, possible under, Yeti release (at least 0.9.2.0), and when it mey help simplify future code changes on physics and related Framework.

We may still have Snail update releases ( at least 0.9.1.1).

Ubit

ps:  current options for physics engines are old ODE, Bullet and ubODE

Hi,
As presented in Lani Global opensim user page
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/User:LaniGlobal   for much of 2014 and early
2015, either ODE or Bullet could be selected by simulator owners for their
regions.  I could use my own ODE physic moving object  in gimisa5 simulator
version 0901 successfully.

Opensimulator has a very flexible design with its two parts , the grid services
and the simulator server. An interesting solution  is possible if ODE physic is
no more available. Using it in 091 grid would still be possible because of
compatibility between simulator version and grid service version. There is no
documentation on that but I know from testing that I can connect and run 0901
simulator version with my updated 091 robust server . This allow me to run
gimisa5  under simulator 0901 while connecting it to my grid robust services
version 091 .

I need to be corrected  and please do so if its the case. But I compared
Robust.HG.ini.example configuration file between version of official release
since 08. The result show rather little modification to robust server
configuration from these different robust versions which support my own
experience.

Hope it helps .
