Alan, there is nothing wrong with the comparison to some tortoise except, you have to upfront collect what you want to take with you.
I have built the iPad/iPhone App. So basically what it does is that every thing you had a look at at home when you had network connectivity, is cached on the device (you will carry that with you). Everything NOT yet collected is not available offline. I need to find the time to fix this issue and make some automated collection of map areas available. But this might still take some time because this mechanism needs some work to actually implement it. Nevertheless, you are welcome to tell me, how you would think a perfect solution should feel for the iPad/iPhone Devices. I will try to work on that. regards, Helge Am 21.03.12 19:02 schrieb "Alan Gordon" unter <[email protected]>: > > > To: Openseamap > cc: > > I have downloaded the app and use it on my iPad and iPhone however it seems > that > I must have web access. > > Is this so? > > Can I have the charts and roads on my iPad and iPhone?
