Michael: Thanks for tip. As it happens there was no index at all for
myDeviceId. I created one via:
dn: olcDatabase={2}mdb,cn=config
changetype: modify
add: olcDbIndex
olcDbIndex: myDeviceId
and it seemed to work OK after that.
