Hi Russel

Most parts of Graphics drivers AMDGPU and Intel live inside the Mesa project where we are at a state of 2021. We have to disable some functionality on Intel like shader caching as we are missing the backing kernel functions. We would also need to check that we have the backing kernel driver for AMDGPU. On FOSDEM we estimated that it would be roughly a 150K - 200K Euro or a one man Year/Year and a half project to get this working and proper, hence the recent initiative with the Association. So that we have a legal vehicle to finance such efforts for OpenIndiana with Sponsors.

Hi

Given what is happening in the Graphics card market with Nvidia, AMD and more recently Intel's new cards. Nvidia appears to be not interested in producing affordable graphics cards.

In order to support AMD cards using the AMD supported Open Source Driver for Vulkan, does Vulkan support need to be included or is there a better solution to support AMD cards?

While Intel cards are improving in performance what is the level of support?

Kind Regards

Russell
