Good Morning

This morning a booted from a BE I created on the 7th December last year in order to run some VirtualBox VMs, while doing this I performed a pkg refresh and created a new BE to see a list of the changes that took place. During this new BE creation process I noted that the default compiler had been changed from gcc-7 to gcc-10. I performed a pkg uninstall gcc-7 which did remove the gcc-7 compiler but left files in /usr/gcc/7/lib.

Is there a quick way to see if these files /usr/gcc/7/lib are required, are binaries dependant on these files? Is it safe to remove these files?

After booting from the new BE, I checked VirtualBox removed the old vbox extensions amd tried running VirtualBox 7.1.4 with and without extension pack and the virtual machine fails with

VM Name: No Disk

The virtual machine 'No Disk' has terminated unexpectedly during startup because of signal 11.

Result Code:

NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

Component:

MachineWrap

Interface:

IMachine {e36a5081-a82a-40bd-9e4e-42a44d6ce50f}

Kind Regards

Russell
